Timber cut to size, Timber machined to size

Our UC4 4×4 timber posts are manufactured from quality incised spruce and pressure treated for long-lasting outdoor performance. Suitable for fencing, gates, agricultural projects, and landscaping applications, these posts are designed for direct ground contact and offer excellent resistance against moisture, fungal decay, and insect attack.
At Allen and Orr, we stock a wide range of tanalised timber posts for trade and domestic customers across Chesterfield, Sheffield, Derbyshire, and surrounding areas. Their strength and durability make them ideal for fencing systems, timber buildings, field gates, and rural construction projects.
Our 100 x 100mm sawn timber fence posts are a popular choice for outdoor timber projects where reliability and structural strength are important. Pressure treated for exterior use, these posts are suitable for fencing, landscaping, agricultural applications, and gate installations.
Designed for long-term outdoor performance, the preservative treatment helps protect the timber against rot, fungal decay, and insect damage. Posts are available in a range of lengths to suit different project requirements and installation methods.
Pressure treated timber posts are protected by a preservative barrier created during the treatment process. To help maintain the lifespan and performance of the timber, unnecessary cutting, drilling, or heavy machining should be avoided where possible, as exposed timber may become more vulnerable to moisture and decay over time.
If cutting or drilling is required during installation, applying a suitable end-grain preservative to any exposed timber surfaces, drilled holes, or notches is recommended. This helps maintain the protective treatment and improve long-term durability.
Correct installation is important to maximise the lifespan and performance of timber posts. When installing posts into the ground, allowing water to drain away from the base of the post can help reduce moisture build-up and improve durability.
A common installation method is to place gravel, ballast, or loose stone at the bottom of the post hole before positioning the post and securing it using post-mix or concrete. Slightly sloping the finished post-mix away from the timber can also help direct water away from the post and improve drainage around the installation area.

Our UC4 4×4 timber posts are a strong and versatile solution for fencing, landscaping, agricultural, and construction projects. Suitable for a wide range of outdoor applications, these timber posts provide excellent strength, stability, and long-lasting performance in demanding environments.
